About Us

The year 1977, Ed Hogle taught his son, Brian (“B”) at the age of 11, to weld.  That was the beginning of a 32 year and counting (unusually tight) father and son relationship.  The welding practice was to create stick figures.  Brian was a natural welder and had an eye.  Brian had the talent, Ed the vision.

Over the years with a core business of structured steel fabrication, Ed and “B” used their shop facilities, equipment and busy work load to incorporate an element of artistic theme into their fabrication.

Ed, the old man, was commonly known as Steel Crazy after all these years (in steel since 1966) was now nick-named Steel Crazy.  “B” did his iron art all along; hence, came the Steel Crazy Iron Art.

With a CNC Plasma purchased in 1996, the themed portion of the business grew, both in quality and exposure in the community.  However, Ed and “B” still went to art festivals but were normally painful and often results were less than successful.   Their fabrication business was good, art work not so good.

With over 15 years of relatively little success with their art work, the two now bought a $250 thousand CNC Water Jet cutter to improve their quality.  Many people now thought “B” was as crazy as his old man.

To add to their exposure, they opened (in 2007) a store front in the Allentown area in Buffalo, NY.  Steel Crazy is now a fixture on the most popular corner in Buffalo.  It is a showcase of over 200 themed passions and many of “B” Sculptures.
